Submarine Capability Analyst

APS 4/5-6 (S&T 3-4) or EL 1 (S&T 5)
$65,133 - $111,633 (plus super)
Rockingham, WA

Australia is upgrading a vital component of its Defences – its submarine fleet. The acquisition of these new submarines presents Government with some of the most complex, sensitive, and expensive decisions that it can make. Come and join the team that addresses difficult questions about how Australia’s submarines should be made ready to go to sea, deploy to where they are needed, and fight to win.

As the ideal candidate, your passion to make Australia’s submarines more capable will be matched by your ability to think critically about problems and provide insights using modelling, simulation, and data analytics. When Navy is calling for urgent answers you will be integral to the teams that deliver them, and you will also perform research into issues that no-one else is even thinking about yet.

Your knowledge in science & technology will equip you to understand how submarines operate today; your desire to innovate will drive you to imagine ways that they could operate in the future. Your excellent verbal and written communication skills will enable you to collaborate with Navy personnel, academia and industry with clarity and influence.

You will have the guidance and mentorship of your colleagues and, likewise, you will be generous in sharing what you know. Up to four new positions are available and will be located at the Defence Science and Technology Group site at HMAS Stirling in Western Australia. The Delegate will assign the APS Levels of either 4/5-6 (S&T Level 3-4) or Executive Level 1 (S&T Level 5), based on the relevant knowledge, skills, experience and ability of the successful applicants to fulfil the duties of the positions.

Application Closing Date: Monday 2 April 2018
