Your New Role:

Join our team as the Engineering Supervisor – Research and Development (R&D) and take the lead in driving technical excellence and innovation within our organisation. In this role, you will provide expert guidance and mentorship to a team of system engineers, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality solutions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project objectives, manage resources, and exceed expectations in your designated area of specialisation.

Primary Areas of Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and support to a team of system engineers, nurturing their growth and enhancing their capabilities.
  • Oversee and manage technology areas within research and development projects, ensuring objectives are met on time and within budget.
  • Investigate complex engineering challenges and propose innovative solutions to optimise project outcomes.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, market assessments, and research into technological concepts and products.
  • Identify emerging technologies and trends, developing new products and technologies to meet customer needs and remain competitive in the market.
  • Participate in proposal writing, grant applications, and funding opportunities to secure resources for research and development initiatives.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the quality of deliverables.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and company policies in all engineering activities.
  • Conduct engineering activities in support of secured acquisition projects.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor.

About You:

As an ideal candidate for this role, you will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
  • Eligibility for Chartered Professional Engineer status with Engineers Australia (desirable).
  • Professional experience in engineering roles within the Defence industry, preferably with large-scale programme delivery.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in your chosen area of specialisation, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with military standards and regulations related to vehicle and technology development is desirable.
  • Creative, analytical, and adept at finding innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence technical and project engineers.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Meticulous approach to work with strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and adaptability skills.
  • Ability to be innovative and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
