A delegation of top RMIT academics has landed in China in a bid to establish a research collaboration with one of China’s leading technological universities, Tsinghua University.

Led by Aleksander Subic, Dean of Engineering, the delegation has visited Tsinghua to establish a research collaboration across a range of engineering disciplines focused onPhD research projects.

The delegation included Professor Chun Quin Li, Head of the School of Civil, Environmental and Chemical Engineering, Professor Ian Burnett, Head of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Professor Jiyuan Tu, Deputy Head, Research and Innovation, of the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.

Professor Subic said: "Our meetings identified a range of common interests where we had comparable research strengths, such as advanced automotive technologies, aerospace technologies, electrical power systems, microelectronics and materials, whole life cycle of infrastructure and other areas.

"Our feeling is that high impacts could be achieved from collaboration in these fields."

RMIT and Tsinghua University, which is ranked in the top 10 technological universities in the world, have already established a joint research cluster at Tsinghua.
