 Planning and Development Manager

 

Company Overview:
Foundation Recruitment has partnered with the City of Palmerston, who are dedicated to creating a vibrant and sustainable community for their residents. Currently seeking a motivated Planning and Development Manager to lead the Infrastructure Department's efforts in coordinating and managing development activities that align with the city's Community Plan.

Position Overview:
As the Planning and Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating various planning and development initiatives that contribute to the city's growth and livability. You will collaborate closely with internal departments, external stakeholders, and community members to ensure that all activities align with the city's vision and objectives.

Salary: $130k - $140K plus super, private use of vehicle and more!

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to staff, stakeholders, agencies, and customers to achieve planning and development outcomes in line with the Community Plan.
  • Contribute to the Territory's planning process, focusing on land use planning and urban design principles that enhance Palmerston's identity as 'A Place for People.'
  • Provide strategic, community-focused leadership in statutory planning responses and infrastructure management.
  • Ensure compliance with international, national standards, legislation, and policies, including the Northern Territory Subdivision Development Guidelines.
  • Develop frameworks, policies, and procedures for planning and development activities in alignment with Council Policies and standards.
  • Engage with external stakeholders for timely submissions and responses on behalf of the Council.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and resolve complex issues related to planning and development.
  • Represent the Council at relevant forums, briefing meetings, and public seminars.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or equivalent, with relevant experience; or a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role with relevant Diploma level qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in subdivision development coordination.
  • Understanding of statutory planning and Council's role within the Northern Territory planning framework.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders for community-focused outcomes.
  • Knowledge of standards, current technology, and design requirements.
  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to prepare complex correspondence and reports.
