CSIRO Science is fundamental to the unique value proposition of CSIRO Education and Outreach (CEdO) and this opportunity as a Program Manager will give you a chance to be a part of CSIRO’s STEM Professionals in School program that has recently celebrated it’s 15 year anniversary! Leveraging your strong planning, development and implementation ability you will own the program’s strategy to achieve the overarching goals, manage relationships with critical key stakeholders and lead a high-performing team.

STEM Professionals in Schools is supported by the Australian Government Department of Education and delivered by CSIRO.

What is so exciting about this role? As a Program Manager, you will have significant independence, and responsibility for the strategic and operational decisions and aligning the goals of the program with the broader CSIRO Education and Outreach strategy.

Your duties will include:

  • Strategic leadership of the program including planning, development and implementation of the program’s strategy.
  • Monitoring and implementing best practice program delivery enabling effective execution of the STEM Professionals in Schools Program.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships including with key partners, funders and stakeholders..
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the funder, partners and stakeholders and demonstrate creativity in anticipating their needs, adapting quickly, and responding to market changes.
  • Developing work plans, allocating and monitoring resources to achieve deliverables / KPIs for the program by implementing best practice program delivery.
  • Driving a high-performance culture within the STEM Professionals in Schools team that leads to continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Generate improved solutions in work situations, trying creative ways to deal with highly complex problems and opportunities.

Location: Negotiable - Any CSIRO capital cities preferred
Salary: AU$121k – AU$142k p.a plus up to 15.4% superannuation pro rata
Tenure: Specified term of up to 30, June 2025/ Part-time (0.6FTE)

To be considered you will need:

  • A tertiary qualification in STEM, education, project management or equivalent relevant work experience in management and leadership roles.
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning and implementation, risk identification and management, problem-solving, and effective budget and resource management.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing, developing, and managing programs.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and networking skills including experience establishing strategic relationships and proven ability to maintain strong and productive relationships and networks with colleagues, leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership in building high-performance teams, creating a culture committed to values-based behaviour, and fostering innovative problem-solving, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • High-level written and oral communication skills in a variety of formats and for a range of audiences.

Eligibility

Applications for this position are open to Australian/ New Zealand citizens, Australian permanent residents and/or Australian temporary residents residing in Australia with full working rights till 30, June 2025 with no visa sponsorship support from CSIRO. Appointment to this role is subject to provision of a national police check and may be subject to other security/medical/character requirements.
