About the Role
The Project Officer is a newly created role with the purpose of providing specialised project support to the Council’s Executive Leadership team, specifically key projects that sit within the Finance, Technical Services and Planning functions.

Key support areas for this role include:

  • Providing support to the General Manager Works and Infrastructure with the management of Tender / Procurement processes and liaison with contractors
  • Assisting with Asset and Infrastructure budget preparation
  • Assisting with Report Writing and Policy responses
  • Overseeing Minor Works projects and responding to community enquiries
  • Providing back-up support for the Finance function and other related activities such as Capital Value implementation, new IT System implementation, General Ledger build and other financial reporting requirements.
  • Assisting with Sports and Recreation and Foreshore planning, plus other basic planning duties as required
  • Supporting the Executive team with infrastructure grant applications and
  • Supporting Residential and Industrial Land expansion project planning.

About You
You enjoy being “hands-on” and the opportunity to directly contribute to projects that support the community. You are an excellent communicator who places a high value on relationships and you are a supportive team player.

Other important skills and attributes include:

  • Qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, Finance or Planning and/or similar relevant experience.
  • Experience working in a local government environment (desirable)
  • A commitment to continuous improvement processes and an innovative mindset
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing deadlines and
  • A positive, “can-do” attitude.
