The Queensland Government is calling for community input for the development of its Indigenous Education Plan.

State Minister for Education, John-Paul Langbroek, released a discussion paper inviting contributions into the development of a new Queensland Indigenous Education Action Plan, which is due for release mid this year.

“I encourage anyone interested in improving outcomes for young Indigenous Queenslanders to read the discussion paper and submit their ideas,” Mr Langbroek said.

Mr Langbroek said the discussion paper would allow the government to broaden its Indigenous education strategy.

“The new action plan will cover the full spectrum of early childhood education and care, school education, training, tertiary education and employment,” he said.

“We want to build an educational pathway for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in Queensland, so they are supported from ‘crayon to career’.

“The new plan for 2013 to 2016 will also fulfil the Government’s commitment in its current whole-of-government Six Month Action Plan.”

A copy of the discussion paper and information on how to make a submission are available atwww.dete.qld.gov.au/indigenous. Feedback and submissions are sought by 30 April 2013.
