The Master Builders Association says lives will be put at risk when the Victorian Government scraps drug and alcohol tests on building sites.

Victoria’s Labor government under Premier Daniel Andrews is getting rid of mandatory drug and alcohol testing set up under the previous LNP government.

Tests on building sites will be exchanged for new rules to breathalyse parliamentarians and other politicians on their way back from long lunches.

“Removing mandatory drug and alcohol testing jeopardises the safety of every construction worker on every building site across the state,” said Radley de Silva, the building lobby’s executive director.

“If the State Government is going to boot out boozy MPs from parliament, it should certainly weed out intoxicated, stoned or high workers from at-risk building sites,” Mr de Silva told New Corp’s Herald Sun.
