Asset Engineer - Specifications & Procurement

About the role:

We have an opportunity available for an experienced Engineer to join our Engineering Team in a full time and permanent capacity based at our Melbourne CBD head office. 

We are looking for a candidate with strong functional knowledge of primary and secondary electrical equipment, with extensive experience in equipment specification development, equipment design or hands-on utilisation, or equipment quality assurance in a manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Grid & Performance Team leader, this role will be responsible for managing the development of high-quality project equipment specifications, review of supplier offers and technical assessment of their compliance, assist in carrying out equipment integration with the project and delivery teams, and assist with supplier quality assurance review.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with electrical power systems, strong exposure to the electricity distribution or transmission industry, and excellent communication and time management skills. 

What you’ll deliver:

  • Prepare project-specific specifications for major electrical equipment procurement.
  • Maintain a library of base specifications, supplier documentation and standard drawings.
  • Assess equipment suppliers for technical compliance, and provide procurement support as needed.
  • Provide technical advice to delivery teams during review process of vendor deliverables, along with technical support to any part of the business.
  • Collate feedback form supporting teams and help implement improvements on future plant procurement and performance.

To succeed in the role you’ll have:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical preferred)
  • Be a registered Professional Engineer of Victoria (NER)
  • Experience in and knowledge of the electricity distribution and transmission industry including renewable generation (solar and wind)
  • Proven experience in support of delivery of large scale, multidisciplinary designs for high voltage substations and line works 
  • Experience in providing technical support and advice to project teams on major equipment installation including  transformers, switchgear, primary and secondary electrical plant
