As a Principal Engineer in Strategic & Future Network Operations, you will report to the Manager of Strategic & Future Network Operations. Your role involves employing innovative methods to analyse and resolve operational challenges in order to effectively manage the evolving complexities of the transmission network.

Within a dynamic and collaborative team environment, your responsibilities will include:

  • Applying innovative approaches to analyse and solve operational challenges, ensuring efficient network operations in response to new transmission network demands.
  • Proactively cultivating and sustaining effective relationships, collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders. You will provide expert advice and guidance, ensuring early stakeholder engagement in projects and influencing the future direction of network initiatives.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of real-time network operations and power system operations challenges. You will identify and nurture the development of future system capabilities, strategically aligning them to meet upcoming challenges and solutions.

Located in Brisbane, you will become part of a collaborative team. You will play a key role in shaping future-oriented strategies for Queensland's SuperGrid within an innovative and agile work culture that offers opportunities to lead transformative initiatives.

Your expertise

In addition to having degree qualifications in Electrical Engineering, you will have significant applied experience working within an engineering advisory role and be RPEQ.

We’d also love you to have:

  • You will have a second to none focus on safety with an inclusive and collaborative approach to working with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in the Energy industry or similar (other utilities) which may include transmission or distribution electricity network development, power generation operations, or market operations. 
  • Skills developing and implementing long term strategic network plans to ensure the robust development of the transmission network to meet future requirements
  • Ability to develop high-level strategies to ensure future network and infrastructure needs are met 
  • Demonstrated ability to utilise power systems modelling and / or market modelling tools 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence within a multi-disciplinary team
