Senior SecOps Engineer

The NSW Department of Education is looking for a highly qualified professional with extensive expertise in configuring and implementing software solutions. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in identity and access management, authentication protocols, and security technologies. This individual should demonstrate strategic thinking, a results-driven approach, and a strong commitment to ensuring the security and reliability of our systems and data.
About the role
In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Manager of SecOps and Principal SecOps Engineers to create operational plans, processes, standards, and procedures that align with our operational objectives. You will ensure that all software solution activities comply with unit processes and procedures, maintaining alignment with industry standards and departmental requirements.
Security Operations Engineer is a critical component of identity and access management that requires a balance between user convenience and robust security practices.
Collaboration is essential, as you will work with key stakeholders, vendor representatives, and other IT teams to identify, define, and ensure that technology solutions effectively address the business's needs. Furthermore, you will provide technical advice and expertise to the team in the investigation, diagnosis, and resolution of service-related issues.

About you
As a key member of our organisation, you will provide subject matter expertise in configuring and implementing software solutions, while also sharing your knowledge to enhance the skills of your colleagues in troubleshooting and resolving service issues.
In this high-performance technical environment, you will deliver comprehensive and in-depth solution advice to develop complex and scalable technology solutions that adhere to industry best practices and meet business requirements. Your role as a Security Operations Engineer focusing on Single Sign-On (SSO) will be critical in our identity and access management strategy, requiring a careful balance between user convenience and robust security practices.

Essential requirements of the role
- Industry certification in relevant technologies or equivalent industry experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC’s validity (up to 5 years)
