CSIRO currently has a range of large, transdisciplinary, and multi-institutional projects across the northern region of Australia, providing critical and innovative solutions to land, water, and conservation challenges in the region. Supporting these key projects, our specialised ‘Material Fluxes’ Team aims to quantify changes in water, soil, and vegetation to evaluate the influence of land management on the environment, and the cost effectiveness of modifying management practices.
As a Field and Data Technician, you will join this dynamic team in a key multi-faceted role, providing technical expertise across number of field-based projects. The primary focus of your role would be implementation of monitoring programs, automated field installations, manual data collection and data management in terrestrial, freshwater, and marine settings. You will be involved in fieldwork in remote areas, assisting senior staff with a range of operational activities such as ground monitoring; equipment ordering, installing, and testing; database maintenance; basic lab and desktop analysis; and coordination of Health and Safety documentation, field trip logistics and planning. Your role will therefore require willingness and ability to travel for extended periods.
If you are an early-career Field Technician with a background in ecological/environmental sciences, a keen interest in the field of data management and working with GIS software, and have a positive attitude towards working in a multi-disciplinary team, we would love to hear from you! Here at CSIRO, we provide a diverse and inclusive culture, support flexible work arrangements, and offer you excellent professional development opportunities to grow your skills & career!
