The Role
The Directorate of Navy Engineering Policy is looking for high performing Technical, Engineering and Administrative staff to join the team to support Naval capability. DNEP sits within the Navy Engineering Branch within Navy Engineering Division and is one of four Directorates that work together to:

  • Define the requirements for Navy Engineering Professionalisation and Mastery,
  • Maintain and develop the materiel aspects of the N4 sub-library (Directorate of Navy Engineering Policy responsibility),
  • Major System Fundamental Inputs Capability (MS FIC), and
  • Lead activities and the provision of complex engineering, and technical advice, products and services.


The various advertised job roles support the development and maintenance of Navy Engineering Policy and N4 sub-library publications, by undertaking a variety of role specific duties. These are available in detail at the link below, and include:

  • Developing, managing and using data and information systems,
  • Authoring, maintaining and reviewing engineering policy documentation of the N4 Library,
  • Review and develop processes, standards, policy and technical requirements. This includes liaising with a wide range of internal and external entities for contributing to and maintaining corporate knowledge,
  • Undertaking assurance and quality management activities to ensure the integrity, quality, readability, style and fitness of Navy’s Materiel Engineering Policy suite,
  • Coordinating and undertaking administrative, business and technical support for the Directorate of Navy Engineering Policy, and
  • Maintaining and updating the model-based Systems Engineering functional structure of the N4 Materiel Policy Library, known as the Materiel Seaworthiness Functional Master Set (MSwFMS).

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidates’ role specific qualities are detailed at the link below, and include:

  • Proven ability to develop and implement techniques and procedures for quality data collection, data management and establish effective data sharing processes with stakeholders,
  • Demonstrated experience in a Technical Policy Writing discipline, or be able to demonstrate the relevance of other authoring experience,
  • Significant experience in undertaking complex internal audit, assurance, compliance or risk assessment and analysis,
  • Demonstrated systems engineering knowledge, including experience in and understand the principles of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE),
  • Highly developed verbal, written and computer communication skills to logically convey thoughts and ideas, and
  • Demonstrated capability to influence key stakeholders in order to achieve effective strategic outcomes.
