The Role
Maritime Division’s Undersea Combat System group are seeking a dedicated individual to join our growing architecture team in the development of Submarine Combat Control System computing technologies. This is an opportunity to apply your skills and experience to provide advice, investigate, evaluate, and demonstrate cutting edge technologies in a laboratory environment to enhance the capabilities of RAN and USN Submarine fleets. Working collaboratively you will demonstrate your team building skills and experience in areas such as cloud computing, with a focus on agile combat system architectures with optimised space weight and power.

About our Team
The team’s insightful research into alternative submarine combat system computing technologies and its transition to impact in the form of significant space, weight and power efficiency improvements, enables additional mission critical capabilities for RAN and USN submarines to be fielded. The team’s dedication and close engagement with other science and technology organisations along with academic and industry partners, has strengthened Australia’s posture as a valued partner in the joint AUS-USA Submarine Combat Control System development program and has resulted in recent highly successful at-sea trials in both AUS and the USA.

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will readily build and maintain effective relationships with other research teams within the wider Defence Science and Technology Group, Academia and Industry partners. They will have demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: Combat System Architectures, Cloud and Containerised products, DevSecOps, Platform as a Service, Kubernetes, Docker, Microservices, Python, Web Services, Model Based Systems with good written and verbal communication skills, and a degree qualification in a relevant area is highly desirable.
