The Role
The Maritime Systems Division (MSD) within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) provides through-life asset management support services to the Navy and Army maritime capability.

The MSD currently has an opportunity within the Patrol Boat Systems Program Office (PBSPO) in Darwin for an experienced Engineering Manager.

The PBSPO is responsible for providing through life support to the Armidale Class and the Cape Class Patrol Boats.

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for working within the Defence Seaworthiness system, to conduct Engineering activities to support the Patrol Boat capability. The successful candidate will be required to achieve and maintain Engineering authority under the Defence Seaworthiness system and will report to the PBSPO Principal Engineer. You will be a key member of the Engineering team and will be required to regularly liaise with stakeholders including the In Service Support Contractor, Navy personnel and other Defence agencies.

Our Ideal Candidate
The Engineering Governance Manager will ideally have at least ten years professional experience as an Engineer or Engineering manager and have experience in managing personnel and teams to achieve enterprise goals. Working knowledge in technical risk management as well as System Safety Engineering will be highly regarded. In addition they will have commercial and financial acumen that will enable them to manage discrete engineering budgets and projects.

This engineering position requires a Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian institution, or a qualification gained elsewhere, that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer.

This engineering position may require the individual to be able to meet the requirements of Chartered Professional Engineer (Engineers Australia), Registered Professional Engineer (Professionals Australia) or Fellow/Member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects or demonstrate the ability to obtain such status within 12 Months.

Our Team
PBSPO is responsible for the through life support of the Armidale Class Patrol Boats (ACPB) and Cape Class Patrol Boats (CCPB). PBSPO had a significant role in the acquisition of these patrol boats and currently provides sustainment and technical integrity assurance of all of the ACPB/CCPB in naval service, including training systems, logistics and engineering support functions.

The PBSPO business unit is comprised primarily of a Sustainment, Commercial/Contracts and Engineering departments.
