A Technical Surveillance Countermeasures (TSCM) Officer uses a suite of electronic equipment and machinery, physical searching techniques, technical knowledge and experience to determine methods of performing a technical attack and whether particular secure areas are free from devices that may breach or interfere with audio security. The aim of this role is to provide a level of assurance that classified discussions are not compromised through technical means.

The TSCM officer will also provide security advice of existing technical threats and use risk based principles and expert knowledge of device capability to Defence and Defence business partner organisations.

The successful candidate will be expected to travel routinely, work collaboratively, at times outside bandwidth hours, across all of Defence and Defence industry partners as well as other government agencies. The nature of this work means you will be required to think laterally, adapting techniques with hands on experience, and gaining satisfaction in contributing to the security of Defence classified assets whilst using innovation to defeat new and emerging technologies.

This position is subject to a Building Defence Capability Payment.
