Welcome to Orange Sky Laundry

Orange Sky Laundry is a young not-for-profit organisation providing free mobile laundry services to people who are homeless. Through a network of 650 volunteers and 12 vans outfitted with commercial washing machines and dryers, we go to over 72 locations across Australia where the needs of our friends on the street are greatest. With the rapid expansion of Orange Sky Laundry over the past 2 years, we are now seeking a skilled tradesperson or mechanical engineer with strong leadership to join our Family at Brisbane headquarters. Now branching into mobile showers we’re looking for someone who can help us to take Orange Sky to the next level.

About the Role

Based in Brisbane you'll get to…

• Lead the fabrication of new Orange Sky Laundry and Shower vans.
• Develop innovative and scalable solutions for the construction and ongoing maintenance of vans.
• Manage a small team of employees at HQ and a team of 15 volunteers around Australia.
• Contribute to the training and ongoing development of junior employees in your team.
• Secure and coordinate suppliers locally and interstate.
• Manage the ordering of parts and inventory control for van builds.
• Develop and implement vehicle maintenance and repair programs.
• Facilitate 2-day training workshops on van maintenance and repairs with groups of up to 15 volunteers.
• Continually review and update all documentation surrounding van construction and maintenance.
• Develop policies and procedures for managing vehicle issues.
• Provide guidance and troubleshooting advice to volunteers on mechanical operations.
