How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne…
The Strategic Planner - Precinct Delivery is responsible for leading and supporting projects and place-based development opportunities within our priority precincts, specifically projects and opportunities that require cross-organisational integration and coordination of internal and external stakeholders.
You will bring understanding of the strategies, processes and opportunities of enabling successful urban renewal. The position also involves identifying and driving internal project work and leading collaboration across the branch and the City of Melbourne. In doing this the Strategic Planner - Precinct Delivery will:
•Manage team projects to deliver them on time, on budget and to the agreed quality.
•Support senior team members to deliver projects.
•Work collaboratively with other team members whether in a lead or a support role.
•Undertake research and provide support to the team regarding these projects and other precinct delivery tasks relevant to the City.
•Participate in programs for continuous improvement of the way the branch works to improve the quality and productivity of the branch.
We are ideally seeking a candidate who can demonstrate a background in planning or development, and can show their strong understanding of the strategies, processes and opportunities for enabling successful urban renewal. Drawing on experience of building partnerships and delivering complex placed-based outcomes, you will possess well developed strategic thinking and problem solving skills and exhibit your excellent interpersonal skills to harness relationships at all levels within City of Melbourne and across multiple external stakeholders.

•Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values – accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
•Relevant tertiary qualifications in urban planning, property, economic development or a related field and experience in the planning, coordination and facilitation of place-based projects.
•Knowledge and understanding of development planning, urban renewal and delivery mechanisms.
•Demonstrated ability to lead, plan and manage projects and tasks, and to implement projects on time and on budget.
•Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships and work in multi-disciplinary teams.
•Demonstrated experience in developing creative and innovative solutions to problems including the ability to conceptualise future opportunities and to develop and assess various scenarios and alternative policy outcomes.
