Fuel Services Branch is seeking an experienced engineer, with mechanical or chemical engineering qualifications, to provide technical assurance of Defence fuel storage and transfer installations, with the emphasis on fitness for purpose and service. You will be leading and overseeing a team of engineering and maintenance professionals providing technical advice across the Defence Fuel Supply Chain. You will be responsible to the EL2.1 Executive Director - Engineering for managing the ongoing design, operational and maintenance risks associated with Defence fuel installations. You will require solid understanding and experience in the application of legislative requirements, Australian and industry standards and best engineering practices related to fuel infrastructure and facilities engineering.

You will be required to manage the technical regulatory framework across Defence fuel infrastructure and facilities engineering, provide technical review and guidance for Defence fuel infrastructure and facilities design and maintenance projects and manage the delivery of higher risk/higher cost projects. You will assist in managing Defence Design Acceptance Authority processes. In your role, you will engage and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and organisations to provide timely, accurate and professional advice in relation to fuel infrastructure and facilities engineering outcomes.  You will also manage Defence personnel and contractors to achieve outcomes consistent with Defence Fuel Supply Chain Strategic Objectives. You will be expected to promote awareness of relevant legislation, government and Defence policies including Work Health and Safety, Environmental and Risk Management as they relate to Defence fuel infrastructure and facilities.
