Competitive package, flexible working arrangements, team culture.

As an engineer or scientist, you may not have heard of Pentium Water. We've grown rapidly from small beginnings over the last 18 months, and our solid strategic focus will see us expanding in several key areas over the next 5 years, but we need your help!

Why should we be on your list of potential employers?

The answer probably depends on what you are looking for.

  • If generating innovative ideas which your colleagues will take seriously matters to you.
  • Are you only using a fraction of what you learnt while completing your degree?
  • You’re earning good money but are concerned that after a few years in the workforce your experience is still very limited.
  • You work in a large organisation and your career development never seems to be a priority.

If working with people who have a diverse range of skills and experiences which they use to turn water problems into assets; then you might just have your answer!

How will your innovative ideas flow through to our clients?

As our new Water Engineer or Water Scientist, you'll form a key part of our team and from the word go, you will be managing challenging water projects from conception through to project delivery, all with the support and encouragement of an experienced team who know that your success enhances their success. You will start by planning and optioneering and this will be followed by system design, compiling your ideas and into a report, discussing these with our clients and then supporting them during implementation to bring your ideas to reality.

Our clients include some of Australia’s largest resource companies which are major contributors to the National and Western Australian economy. Much of this work is in the Pilbara or the Goldfields. However, our client base also includes organisations such as the water authorities and property developers, who are all working collaboratively to provide advanced water sensitive urban designs to house the next generation of Western Australians.

What we would like from you?

Ideally, you will possess a tertiary engineering qualification (e.g. Civil or Mechanical) or the equivalent of 3 years of relevant experience in a professional environment.

Working in close collaboration with Principal and Senior water engineers, your critical analysis of the project scope will lead you to practical solutions which our clients will embrace and are keen to implement.

Your knowledge of water supply and dewatering systems including your experience using a water network model such as Hammer, will help you to perform hydraulic calculations and allow you to recommend appropriate types and sizes of pumps, pipelines and tanks. You will be able to start with basic sketches of your ideas and then convert these to layout drawings once your ideas are fully formed.

Your previous use of a GIS package (we use QGIS) will allow you to bring your ideas to life and to incorporate them into reports and share them with fellow team members and clients alike.

Your proficiency with MS Office suite will allow you to collect and store all your deliverables so they can be shared and updated as required.

You will ideally be familiar with managed aquifer recharge systems, as storing precious water and restoring water levels in aquifers is an area undergoing rapid expansion.

Your technical understanding of basic civil designs (bunds, bulk earthworks, diversion channels, road, and flood ways) will also be highly valued but we have plenty of in-house experience in this area if you feel you need to upskill.

By actively participating in internal and client meetings, you will form a detailed picture of the existing situation and be able to convert this into the desired outcome using safe design practices. If you need help, the team are always on hand to provide guidance and bring you up too speed with our experience-driven tools and models to allow you to get to where you are going without reinventing the wheel!

What can you expect from us?

Joining Pentium Water will allow you to get in on the ground floor and rapidly rise through the ranks to achieve your career objectives.

The team realise that investing in you helps you become part of us, and your career development is a vital part of the time we share.

We embrace flexible working hours and working from home, and we firmly believe that this flexibility leads to great outcomes for both team members and the company. Working 4 days a week or other part-time arrangements can readily be negotiated if this helps with your decision to join our amazing team.
