Location: We are open to having the role to be based in Parramatta (preferred), Newcastle or Wollongong.

What you’ll do: 

  • Lead the development and implementation of technical/engineering solutions for assigned investigations and provide robust engineering recommendations to the project planning team. Includes provision of timely accurate and complete technical support, advice, reporting and recommendations that minimise risk, environmental impact and ensure overall investigation objectives are met.
  • Manage a team of Investigation Engineers and oversee the quality and effectiveness of work for the team of Investigation Engineers, providing technical guidance and coaching. 
  • Manage engineering aspects of investigations regarding problem identification, optioneering, and recommendations to meet established investigation needs, including assessment of associated investigation costs and to ensure key stakeholders are well consulted, as per the approved Investigations Manual.
  • Oversee the investigation process ensuring all relevant engineering specifications and standards are met, appropriate hold points are in place through the investigation process. 
  • Support and ensure value engineering processes are undertaken effectively and that recommendations are made and adopted where appropriate.
  • Regularly monitor Investigation Engineers and Consultants to ensure all work complies with quality and WaterNSW standards, and meets agreed requirements, including investigation completion and performance expectations. 

What we are looking for:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher tertiary institution in relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience in asset maintenance, renewals and asset management of heavy industrial assets, and experience managing the engineering and design aspects of multiple and complex multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects
  • Experience to problem solve complex engineering issues and to determine appropriate solutions to technical challenges through evaluation of options
  • Knowledge of assets relevant to WaterNSW core asset base such as dams, water regulating structures, bridges roads, canals, embankments, buildings and cranes etc.
  • Knowledge and experience of regulatory requirements and standards including WHS as they relate to the design and delivery of engineering aspects of projects
  • Knowledge in Asset Management Planning and asset renewal processes.
