Submarine Chef

Enjoy more in the Navy

In this role you'll be one of the most popular people aboard a high-tech submarine. As a Chef Submariner you'll prepare meals for a crew of grateful shipmates while enjoying:

  • a good salary plus generous Super
  • ongoing investment in your personal and career development
  • free medical and dental
  • job security and a good work/life balance
  • rewarding work and world-class trade training
  • subsidised accommodation when on base
  • a supportive team environment
  • travel and leave entitlements
  • free access to sports and fitness facilities on base
  • friendships that last a lifetime

All that plus meaningful experiences such as joining humanitarian missions and supporting communities in need.

Your role

It takes a special kind of resourcefulness to join the Deep Elite, living and working with a close-knit team in the unique environment of a Collins Class submarine. But for many Submariners, there's no place they'd rather work.

As a Chef Submariner your main responsibility will be to prepare and serve meals for Navy personnel. High standards are essential and you'll be expertly trained in every aspect of nutrition, food preparation and running a kitchen (we call them 'galleys' in the Navy).

Your duties will also include:

  • menu planning
  • calculating the volume and type of provisions required
  • compiling provisions orders, and
  • managing budgets.

All Submariners are expected to multitask, so your job will have many fulfilling extra dimensions as you carry out general seamanship duties including:

  • medical emergency team duty
  • joining stores parties
  • joining boarding parties
  • whole ship duties including helming, and
  • ceremonial duties.

If you enjoy cooking, have a strong work ethic and are keen to learn new skills and techniques, this is your chance to secure a fulfilling and rewarding job.

Better still, you’ll be working for a dynamic organisation that offers a great lifestyle plus opportunities you simply won’t find anywhere else.

Sounds good? Then apply now (below).
