The Opportunity

Icon Water is looking for a collaborative and detail-orientated Water Quality Technical Officer to join the team. If you are looking for a role which positively contributes to the community, has daily interactions with peers from engineering, science and many other professional disciplines and you have the skills and attributes below we are interested in hearing from you.

With your strong analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with your high attention to detail, and outcomes focus you will assist in the key assurance and quality control processes to ensure the delivery of safe, efficient, and reliable water services to the people of Canberra. Your skills in data analysis and technical reporting will ensure the supply of water services are in accordance to protect public health. An inquisitive approach and great proactive engagement with peers and customers to collaborate on reaching an outcome is highly valued.

Day in the life of a Water Quality Technical Officer:

  • Use data to convey trends or provide insight into possible causes of non-conformance with standards.
  • Contribute to routine reporting on the performance of the water supply.
  • Contribute to the specification of and contract compliance of an analytical monitoring programs
  • Collaborating to develop, implement, and review Quality Management Systems which guide the safe delivery of potable water to the community
  • Liaise with customers to trouble shoot supply issues.
  • Prepare specialised technical advice on quality and compliance issues
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and contractors to assist with investigations and projects related to water supply

To be successful for this role, you will need:

  • Relevant qualifications in Science, Engineering, or in a related field
  • Experience in a water utility, industry or analytical laboratory
  • Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and/or HACCP
  • Experience in data analysis and interpreting results to prepare technical reports for varying audiences
  • The ability to engage and collaborate with a wide variety of stakeholders
