The opportunity

Icon Water’s People Health and Safety team are looking for a highly motivated, strategic and safety conscious individual to join them as a Manager Health and Safety Systems.

In this role, you will provide health and safety systems strategy expertise in delivering a range of health and safety solutions for the business in support of Icon Water’s business strategy, while strengthening overall workforce capability and capacity. This role will see a strong focus on health and safety policy frameworks, risk management, data and trend analysis, business reporting, IT systems support and regulatory compliance.

You will be part of a collaborative, people focused team who are all about providing support and assistance to the business to ensure it is a safe place for everyone.

A day in the life...

• Oversee the maintenance and continual improvement of a Safety Management System that conforms with ISO 45001 Occupational health and safety management systems.
• Oversee the maintenance and continual improvement of all health and safety systems, procedures, work instructions and enablers to ensure safety best practice.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of the People, Health & Safety Strategy.
• Develop programs to build health and safety capability amongst line leadership
• Monitor and continually improve safety incident management processes across the business and ensure related performance indicators are identified, monitored and achieved.
• Prepare safety reports, which include reports related to safety non-compliance, trends or concerns to the organisation, safety incident investigations and progress against the People, Health & Safety Strategy
• Lead the development, review and implementation of effective procedures, work instructions and enablers for Icon Water’s Safety Management System (SMS).

To succeed in this role, you will have:

• Tertiary qualification, preferably in Work Health and Safety Sciences or a related discipline
• Strong knowledge of the Work Health Safety Act 2011 (ACT)
• Significant experience in the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of safety management systems
• Significant report and procedure writing experience.

Desirable

• Certification with the Australian Institute of Health and Safety or similar industry body
• Strong knowledge of safety best practise in the water industry or like industry
