The Opportunity

In the Engineering Services branch of our Infrastructure Services Group, we have a rare opportunity for a Principal Civil Engineer to join our team! As a team, we provide advice on Icon Water's safety and integrity of our assets and systems. Being the Principal Civil Engineer, you will lead and oversee technical governance of a broad range of projects to meet business objectives.

A day in the life could include:

• Providing technical expertise to identify and initiate engineering projects, and ensure Icon Water's design standards are of best practice
• Leading engineering investigations to ensure the health and performance of Icon Water's assets are safe, reliable and efficient
• Provide technical user requirements specifications for new projects
• Being proactive in searching for technical risks and opportunities
• Mentoring and motivating a team of engineers, technical officers and trades persons
• Rolling out best practice engineering systems
• Build and nurture professional relationships to consult and engage internal and external stakeholders on engineering processes

If you have:

• Degree in Civil Engineering
• Proven technical knowledge and extensive working experience of civil infrastructure in a utilities industry
• A deep understanding of technical codes, standards and requirements, design, delivery, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater assets
• The ability to lead a specialised team and work together to deliver excellent technical expertise on engineering projects
• Skills in persuasion and negotiation to convey your argument in an informative and communicative way to internal and external stakeholders
• Demonstrable ability to make sound decisions and form judgments based on relevant information
• Previous project management and/or design management experience.
