East Gippsland Water provides an essential service to the East Gippsland region, offering an idyllic lifestyle location that is close to national parks, lakes, rivers and coastal regions.

We are entering a phase of expansion as we deliver our five-year plan to ensure the ongoing and reliable delivery of water and wastewater services to customers in our region. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced candidate to make an important contribution to the delivery of our current and future capital asset investment and other works programs.

About the role

The Senior Project Engineer will provide support to the Capital Program Delivery Manager and act as one of EGW’s lead project managers for the successful delivery of allocated projects, new schemes and whole-of-life-cycle Price Determination major projects, from planning, design, construction and commissioning through to acceptance of infrastructure assets.

The successful candidate will manage a small team responsible for the delivery of allocated projects, providing engineering/technical support including the review and oversight of technical designs, reports, tendering, contracts and specifications. The role will engage with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate and coordinate the procurement of consultants and contractors in accordance with EGW and State Government policies and procedures.

Based at our Bairnsdale Head Office, this ongoing position provides crucial expertise to the organisation to ensure that activities are delivered in accordance with Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Management Plans and contract specifications. This role also provides key support in ensuring that the provision of safe and reliable water and wastewater services to our customers is of the highest priority.

What can you bring to the role?

This role will showcase your leadership experience and technical capability in delivering whole of life cycle engineering projects. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders to provide technical oversight to your team and other members of staff as part of EGW’s project delivery processes, and ensure that works are delivered safely and to a high standard. Your technical experience will enable you to provide oversight to engineering consultants and contractors, and at times enable you to complete your own engineering designs.
