Senior Engineer- Wind Energy

The Role:

Your primary responsibility will involve focusing on the conceptualisation, design, delivery, installation, commissioning, and handover of wind energy packages and assets. Your main objective will be to maintain and enhance process safety, asset performance, and plant efficiency. By utilising sound engineering practices, knowledge, and exceptional stakeholder management skills, we will support the Generation and Distribution business in achieving cleaner energy generation solutions.

Responsibilities:

Collaborating with Project Managers, participate in the development and implementation of scopes and budgets for new wind energy sites, employing the following methods:

  • Conducting comprehensive project evaluations, including wind flow modelling, forecasting, and analysis of climatic, correlation, statistical, and uncertainty factors
  • Monitoring data and wind resource assessment
  • Evaluating production variables such as wind speed, shear, project layout, and wind turbine models
  • Evaluating the feasibility of project sites considering layouts, meteorological conditions, shadow flicker, visual impacts, and noise
  • Analysing and interpreting extensive data from meteorology towers, remote sensing sources, and long-term reference data
  • Preparing long-term wind Energy Yield Assessments and preliminary site layouts for new development sites
  • Providing expert wind turbine engineering support, with a preference for both onshore and offshore technology, to all relevant groups within the Origin generation group
  • Identifying, developing, and maintaining engineering policies and technical documentation
  • Applying engineering theory, practices, and principles to conduct root cause analyses of equipment failures and operational performance losses using RCA and ICAM methods

About You:

  • Engineering qualifications relevant to the role
  • Significant experience in wind energy feasibility, analysis, and construction
  • Understanding and appreciation of both commercial and technical risks
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and select appropriate technologies
  • Demonstrated capability in concept design
  • Experience in detailed specification and project development
  • Willingness to travel, sometimes at short notice.
