Provide technical assistance to the development and deployment of a GNSS ear tag to feral cattle in Northern Australia.
We offer an exciting opportunity for an eResearch Hardware Technician ($65,650- $74,462) to join our world-leading institution at James Cook University (JCU). A full time, fixed term appointment to 30 April 2023, this position is based at the JCU Bebegu Yumba campus in Townsville.
What you can accomplish in the Role
As part of the successful “Improved feral cattle and buffalo herd management for environmental and economic benefits in remote Northern Australia” project , this newly created position offers an exciting opportunity to provide technical assistance in the development of a Global Navigation Satellite System ear tag to be deployed to feral cattle in Northern Australia.
What you will bring to the Role
With an aptitude for electrical engineering and a demonstrated competence and knowledge of satellite telemetry and an understanding of GNSS systems, you will perform laboratory and field testing of an ear tag hardware platform. You will demonstrate effective communications skills as you work collaboratively with project partners to ensure research objectives are met within required timeframes.
