Wakool Shire is seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated professional to join the Shire in the role of Design Engineer. The position will be based at Council’s Moulamein office, located on the banks of the Edward River, within easy reach of Melbourne and the rural cities of Swan Hill, Bendigo and Echuca.
The major responsibilities of this diverse role will be to undertake engineering survey and design for roads and streets construction, maintenance works and programmed capital works together with involvement in the preparation and development of Construction and Maintenance Programs. You will also be active in the planning, development and formulation of all strategic engineering Forward Capital Programs.
The successful candidate has well developed oral and written communication skills and a high level of computer literacy including experience using AutoCad and Civil CAD. Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering allowing membership to the Institute of Engineers Australia are preferred, or will need to be obtained within 18 months of employment. Previous experience in a Local Government environment, although not essential, will be well regarded.
