Engineering Surveyor

Permanent Full-time Position (35 hours per week)

Council is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Design team within the Capital Works Section. This role provides a great opportunity to be part of a small team delivering a very important function within Council.

You will be responsible for undertaking road and drainage engineering surveys, construction setout surveys, control of machine guidance of construction projects, cadastral surveys under supervision and associated calculations, conformance reports, reports and plans. Consulting with other stakeholders and the customer is an intergral part of the position. You will also be required to manage consultants during the survey and construction phases, and carry out these duties and responsibilities in a timely and professional manner.

SELECTION CRITERIA (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND CAPACITY)

  • Ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders and peers and work as part of a team
  • Completed Certificate or Associate Diploma or Diploma in Surveying or equivalent with at least 4 years surveying experience
  • Demonstrated experience in all types of surveying (e.g. cadastral, engineering detail, construction setout, monitoring) and modern survey equipment (e.g. GPS, Robotic instruments, connection and control of machine guidance construction equipment)
  • Efficient in the use of Survey software and general software eg. AutoCad, Civilcad, Civil 3D, Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • A sound knowledge of Surveying Standards and Practices together with Surveying and Spatial Information
  • Regulation and the Surveyor Generals and Registrar Generals Directions
  • Class 1A/C Drivers Licence ability to drive a manual 4WD vehicle
    A broad knowledge of civil construction procedures and practices and experience with GPS and UTS machine guidance of construction plant
  • High level of computer literacy including use of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution essential

Salary Range: $75,732 to $88,754 (incl. super + retention allowance) + flexitime
