CSIRO is expanding the Assembly, Integration and Verification (AIV) Team to include an Electronic Systems Technician. 

The Electronic Systems Technician is a member of the SKA-Low Telescope Assembly, Integration and Verification (AIV) team. The multidisciplinary AIV team is responsible for the integration of complex digital and RF electronic systems into the SKA-Low Telescope Signal Chain and the verification of the Telescope to defined Level 1 requirements. 

Within the AIV team, the Electronics Systems Technician will provide technical, operational, maintenance and upgrade support for installation, acceptance testing, commissioning, fault-finding and repairs to the systems in the SKA LOW Telescope signal chain and its enabling systems.  

Your duties will include:

• Work within the multi-disciplinary AIV team to assist with installation, acceptance testing, and commissioning of the signal chain of the SKA Low Telescope and enabling systems and support the system performance to ensure the highest levels of availability required for the Telescope.
• Attend multiple sites locally and nationally, often overnight or for multiple days at a time, to provide technical, operational and maintenance support.
• Install, maintain, upkeep and modify the ITF and its associated inventory as per design specifications.
• Support the identification and procurement of electronic test equipment, components, and spares for the ITF and for AIV team activities on site.
• Fault find, repair and maintain a broad range of RF and electronic modules and comply with project procedures relevant to conducting electrical, instrument and control systems defect, asset management, maintenance, repair, and calibration activities.
• Apply your knowledge and experience, supplemented with specialist training, and then share that knowledge with the AIV team and other key stakeholders through training delivery.

Salary: AU$89,680 - AU$101,459 plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: Indefinite - Full-time, Part-time (minimum of 0.8FTE if Part-time)

To be considered you will need:

Essential

• A relevant Electronics Certificate, associated Diploma or equivalent training and experience in electrical/electronic/RF engineering with emphasis on both analogue and digital techniques.
• Demonstrated experience in independently and systematically identifying, diagnosing and resolving problems on complex electronic systems and aptitude for advancing system knowledge.
• Proven ability to contribute novel ideas and approaches in support of a technical team.
• Demonstrated maintenance, and support experience in a complex systems environment of data networks, cabling and infrastructure, computer networks, analogue and digital systems, RF over Fibre or RF test equipment including calibration.
• Competence to accurately interpret system drawings and schematics, engineering drawings, third party operating and maintenance manuals.
• Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices, environmental sustainability and the principles of equity and diversity.
• Willing and able to travel to other sites (locally, nationally, internationally) for training and professional development or to assist with the installation, testing or maintenance of equipment.
