The Position
CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Postdoctoral Fellowships provide opportunities to scientists and engineers who have completed their doctorate and have less than three years relevant postdoctoral work experience. These fellowships aim to develop the next generation of future leaders of the innovation system.
CSIRO’s Mineral Resources is seeking to appoint a CERC Postdoctoral Fellow in Geochemistry and Spectral Imaging – Red Sea and Mars. The Red Sea, located at the spreading centre between two tectonic plates, the African Plate and the Arabian Plate, provides a unique opportunity to study metal-rich ores caught in the act of formation. At 2000 m depth in the Red Sea, the Atlantis II Deep is recognised as the largest modern-day ore-forming environment on Earth
As the successful candidate you will develop an innovative interdisciplinary approach combining geochemistry, hyperspectral imaging and mineralogy to provide insight into ore formation processes of the Atlantis II Deep, refine current genetic models of ancient ore deposits and study hydrothermal activity on Mars.
