Reliability Engineer

The Position:  

CSIRO Business and Infrastructure Services (CBIS) are seeking a Reliability Engineer with excellent interpersonal skills to provide professional engineering and technical support for maintenance, capital improvement and operational activities at the Australian Animal Health Laboratory (AAHL).  You will provide reliability engineering expertise to achieve responsive, reliable and cost effective maintenance and operations of the Facility. The facility has a design life of 100 years and Strategic Asset Management is an imperative.

This is a security assessed position. Applicants must be an Australian citizen, with successful candidate either holding or having the ability to obtain a Negative Vetting 1, Australian Government security clearance.

Your duties will include:

  • Review and develop documentation and systems to incorporate ISO55001 as guiding principles to Strategic Asset Management for the AAHL facility.
  • Acquire and maintain a thorough understanding of the performance and maintenance requirement for the various items of plant at AAHL.
  • Develop methods to extract performance and condition information from the SCADA system and maintenance information from the CMMS to determine equipment condition.
  • Provide guidance on appropriate maintenance program and responses based on condition.
  • Monitor trends in the physical condition of the plant, and project the effects into maintenance demands and plant reliability.

Salary:     $109K to $128K plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will have:

  • Qualifications and experience in predictive, proactive and reliability centered maintenance and diagnostics such as VCAT Vibration Analysis, Ultrasound, Thermography.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary, regionally dispersed research team, and carry out tasks autonomously in support of scientific research.
  • Demonstrable experience and technical knowledge in a combination of at least 2 of the following:
  • Implementation of ISO55001 as either a guiding principle or for certification.
  • Qualifications and experience in predictive, proactive and reliability centered maintenance and diagnostics such as VCAT Vibration Analysis, Ultrasound, Thermography.
  • Analysis of multi-faceted operational data to indicate performance and condition.
  • Investigation experience in technical issues and equipment failures including use of methodologies such as PMO, FMECA, RCA threat Barrier Diagrams.
