The Opportunity

There is an exciting opportunity within Council's Environmental Sustainability team for an enthusiastic, customer-focused, highly skilled professional to join our team as the Senior Sustainability Strategist (Climate).

The Environmental Sustainability team leads Council's strategic approach to carbon reduction, climate adaptation, urban resilience, and environmental management. We develop strategic documents, monitor and report on progress towards goals and targets, lead projects in emerging areas, provide technical advice, and collaborate with other business units to deliver actions.

As Senior Sustainability Strategist you will identify strategic environmental risks and opportunities relevant to the City of Maribyrnong and develop appropriate organisational and community responses, including strategic documents, projects, partnerships and programs.

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science or other related field.
  • Significant knowledge and experience in dealing with strategic environmental sustainability issues, particularly climate change, in an urban setting.
  • Proven experience in the design, implementation and assessment of environmental sustainability strategies, delivery frameworks and programs including embedding sustainability practices and culture across organisations
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships and well-established influencing skills that result in high quality and timely outcomes.
