Remuneration package up to $247,420 per annum PSGOGA*

*Remuneration package is based on salary, superannuation, attraction and retention incentive payments and milestone payments received on the achievement of Performance Indicators.

The position

This senior position directs and coordinates the activities of the Basins and Energy Geosciences group within the Geological Survey of Western Australia. The group comprises about twelve geoscientists with wide-ranging experience in geological mapping, litho-, sequence and seismic stratigraphy, geophysics, petroleum geochemistry, basin and petroleum systems modelling, structural geology and tectonics, paleontology and coal geology.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have a mix of government and industry experience; be an experienced professional geologist or geophysicist, a history of geoscientifc achievements, and be an inspirational team leader and motivator.

Job Requirements/Capabilities

To undertake this role successfully you require:

Bachelor of Science (Geoscience) or approved equivalent degree.Significant experience in advanced studies of sedimentary basins and/or petroleum geology and/or petroleum geophysics.

Knowledge of petroleum legislation, policy formulation and resource economics

Experience in strategic planning, budgeting and management including high-level judgement in the planning and organisation of geoscience work with a demonstrated history of high-quality geoscience publications
