We are currently seeking a Waste Operations Coordinator to join our Water & Waste Department.

 

Primary Objectives of the Position

  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of asset, strategic and business management plans relating to the master planning and design of Council’s network of waste and recycling management infrastructure, including; landfills, transfer stations, drop off bins, buy back shop and materials recovery facility.
  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of waste and recycling operational activities and services at Council’s network of waste management facilities.
  • Coordinate the management of the waste operational contracts to ensure maximum value for money, effective risk management, quality control, contract performance, probity, accountability and transparency.
  • Deliver project management of the Waste Operations capital works program.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Waste or Business Management and / or extensive experience in waste and recycling operations and contract management.
  • Superior knowledge of waste management practices, processes and procedures in the operation of landfills, transfer stations and material recovery facilities and the supervision of collection and transportation contracts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the statutory and policy drivers relating to the management of waste in Queensland, Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and administering operational contracts from concept to completion.
  • Superior communication and negotiation skills, including demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with staff and a range of internal and external customers.
  • Effective staff management, interpersonal and motivational skills.
