Transport Engineer


Moreland City Council is offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys contact with the community and working with a dynamic team to improve our transport network and increase road safety within Moreland.

This position will identify, investigate and develop solutions for a range of traffic, parking, signage and road safety issues concerning the community. This role will contribute effectively and in a timely fashion to delivering community focused outcomes that meet Council’s current transport engineering challenges. The role calls upon the successful applicant to leverage off their sound interpersonal skills, and to engage stakeholders on all levels across multi-disciplinary teams both internally and externally as required.

Key aspects of this role include the implementation of Council’s transport policies including Moreland’s Integrated Transport Strategy and the Bike and Pedestrian Strategies and liaising with other Council departments to expand sustainable transport systems and practices. The successful candidate will have experience and expertise in transport engineering, developing innovative transport solutions, excellent communication and problem solving skills.

To be successful in this role, you are required to have a degree in Civil Engineering or related field, some experience applying traffic management and or transport planning principles would be advantageous. Knowledge in providing advice on proposed development applications is desirable and the ability to deliver projects using your accumulated project management skills will be highly regarded.

This role is one of four Band 6 positions (three Transport Engineers and a Development Advice Engineer) in the Strategic Transport and Compliance Branch. These roles rotate so that a Development Advice engineer is replaced every 12-18 months by one of the Transport Engineers.
