We're seeking a Group Manager Water Operations

As the Group Manager Water Operations you will be primarily responsible for the real time 'catchment to tap' operations and short term planning necessary to enable safe, compliant, effective and efficient Water Service Delivery for Customers. Operating 3 dams, 6 water treatment plans, approximately 80 reservoirs , 120 pumping stations and nearly 5,000km of water mains for over half a million customers across the Lower Hunter this is a critical role and a key member of the Service Delivery for Customers leadership team.

Key Responsibilities include effective leadership, delivering exceptional customer service both internally and externally, maintaining high levels of quality and compliance and managing commercial requirements and budgets. Functional responsibilities of this role will require you to take primary accountability for the safe and efficient operational performance and compliance of all systems within your remit.
 
This role may be required to undertake duties in an after hours roster or provide management coverage after hours, during weekends, public holidays or shutdown periods.
 
This role will be engaged as a five year fixed term contract with a salary package of $150,000 - $170,000 commensurate with skills and experience.
 
To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate the following:
 
Essential qualifications 
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Science or an equivalent related discipline

Essential work experience/skills

  • More than 5 years experience in the management of porable water systems including treatment plants and a distributed network of assets
  • More than 2 years team leadership experience
  • Proven ability to effectively lead a team and apply situational leadership across the organisation
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships and influence a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills including business writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to work autonomously with limited direction, identify trends/issues, act with initiative to deliver solutions and outcomes and identify relevant matters to bring attention to the Executive Manager
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage challenges and changing priorities whilst delivering to team and corporate deadlines
  • Ability to perform duties as an Incident Controller and Duty System Manager acting independently if required

  • Business, management or other relevant qualifications
  • Experience in the management of service contracts
  • Experience in laboratory service management
  • Experience in the management of recycled water systems
