About the opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for providing software engineering support for contract research and development (R&D) projects in Field Robotics.  In collaboration with the Lead Software Engineer, the Senior Software Engineer will be expected to research, design, develop, build, test software and field a range of exciting robotics technologies and information systems in the agriculture domain.  These two positions will provide support and assistance to researchers and students on robotic systems with:

• an excellent programming skill like C++, Python, Bash, Matlab, Robotic Operating Systems (ROS) framework
• a sound knowledge and experience with developing multi-threaded and/or multi-process applications as well as thorough understanding of object-oriented design
• an ability to work independently and drive colleagues and team members to deliver projects on time
• an ability to support field trials and willingness to help others in non-software related issues as well.

• has a tertiary degree in Software Engineering or related field, with at least 3 years relevant experience.
• is knowledgeable of agile software development and prior experience of software team lead
• has a sound working knowledge of safety procedures, relevant to the work environment
• is experienced in writing technical documents and user manuals relating to software and processes
• is willing to travel interstate for fieldwork when required.
