Powerlink Queensland is a Government Owned Corporation that owns, develops, operates and maintains the High Voltage Electricity Transmission network in Queensland. Powerlink's primary role is to provide a safe, cost effective and reliable transmission network to transport high voltage electricity to the electricity distribution networks. Powerlink also transports electricity to large industrial customers such as rail companies, mines and mineral processing facilities that are directly connected to our high voltage network. Powerlink provides these electricity connection services on a non-regulated basis. With a reputation for a great working environment, Powerlink has an opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to join our Delivery and Technical Solutions Division in a Permanent), Full-Time Grid Controls Planning Engineer role.
The Opportunity: There is currently a permanent Grid Controls Planning Engineer position vacancy. The purpose of the Grid Controls Planning Engineer position is to model and analyse the performance of the existing and proposed electric power system networks, to make recommendations on special control systems required for power system stability (including design, tuning and oversight), network investment and operation to meet Powerlink's obligations to their owner's, market participants and customers. This is done through activities associated with network modelling, network analysis and assessment of options.
The Grid Controls Planning Engineer will principally report to the Renewable Technology Team Leader.
What you will do:
What will you need: To be successful in this position, you will have a degree qualification in Electrical Engineering supported by demonstrated experience working in an outcome focussed technical team with Grid Controls Planning experience and with a demonstrated ability in network modelling, network analysis and assessment of plant performance. You will need to have worked in a busy environment bringing together successfully the requirements of a range of stakeholders related to Grid Controls Planning.
