An opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic Safety Advisor to join our team.  The role is about making a real difference to the Safety of Work – understanding how effective we are at managing our critical risks, where can we improve our work design and assist in unlocking operational constraints.  

As the Safety Advisor, you’ll support the organisation by providing high-quality, innovative and customer-focused safety support across a wide range of projects, operations and maintenance activities in North Queensland. There is autonomy, variety, and the ability to have an impact and make a positive change for the frontline.

Utilising your expertise, you will offer specialised advice on all aspects of safety management, including legislative requirements and the management of risks. You will have opportunities to apply your knowledge of contemporary safety approaches including Safety Differently Human & Organisational Performance and Learning Teams. In this role, you will provide useful input into the development and maintenance of the HSE Management System, providing a range of safety support functions to operations and large-scale construction projects.

What you’ll bring

  • A personal approach to safety and an ability to engage with all levels of the organisation.
  • Curiosity about learning from everyday work through positive interactions with frontline teams.
  • Diploma level qualification in a field of safety studies or lesser qualification coupled with significant experience.
  • Formal investigation qualification or experience in contemporary event learning approaches.
  • Internal audit qualifications and experience in delivering safety audits.
  • Ability to organise and manage competing demands and priorities.
  • Full open manual C Class licence (as a minimum)

We’d also love you to have:

  • Electrical Trade qualifications (e.g. Linesman, Electrical Fitter/Mechanic).
  • Experience in a safety role within the Construction and/or Electricity Industries.
