Senior Civil Engineer - Flooding and Waterways

What will you do?

We have a strong current and prospective order book and hence are seeking an additional Senior Engineer with good experience in flood assessments and mitigation design for projects including major transport infrastructure and dams. You will join the existing Surface Water team (Newcastle and Sydney) to lead flooding components of projects. You will also be able to participate in our growing business in Integrated Water Catchment Management involving our engineering and advisory teams.

You will liaise on projects with our key clients, including TfNSW, Tier 1 contractors, Energy companies, DPIE, Sydney Water, Hunter Water and Water NSW. Our recent projects include Rankin Park to Jesmond - Newcastle Inner City Bypass; Western Sydney Airport Earthworks; Parramatta Light Rail; AGL Power Stations Storages Dam Break Assessments; and Williamtown Special Activation Precinct.

Role can be either Newcastle or Sydney based.

What can you bring to the team?

You are a Senior Engineer with a proven capability in flood modelling projects.

You will come to us with:

  • Proven experience in delivering flood assessment and mitigation components of transport and other infrastructure projects.
  • Technical expertise in hydrology and hydraulics and a passion to develop it in junior engineers.
  • Ability to use relevant software including:
    • 1D & 2D flood modelling software - MIKE FLOOD, MIKE 21, MIKE 11, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS
    • Hydrologic modelling software - RAFTS, RORB, URBS
    • GIS, AutoCAD & 12D
  • Working knowledge of ARR2019 and TfNSW guidelines
  • Aptitude for discipline management including negotiating scope and schedules with major project PMs.
  • Commitment to quality control in design delivery to satisfy both Aurecon and client requirements.
  • Ability to contribute to bid preparation.
  • Collaborative approach with other project disciplines, and delivery teams.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Progression towards or achievement of CP Eng.
