We now have a great opportunity for a Senior Energy Risk Analyst to be based in Brisbane within the Energy Risk business unit at Ergon Energy Retail. This is a 2 year Fixed Term opportunity.

An integral part of this dynamic specialist team and reporting to the Energy Risk Manager, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and operating the tools, systems and processes relating to monitoring and reporting around financial, regulatory, compliance and operational risks arising from the operations of Ergon Energy Queensland (EEQ).

Key accountabilities include:

• Providing high quality financial risk management information, by developing and implementing energy risk monitoring and reporting tools.
• Delivering timely and accurate portfolio position, performance and risk analysis and insight for reporting purposes.
• Developing, maintaining, implementing and operating the tools, systems, methodologies and processes necessary to publish and report, in an accurate and timely manner, on the financial risk positions of the risk management operations of EEQ in the National Electricity Market.
• Assisting the Energy Risk Manager to investigate, analyse and provide recommendations on routine and ad-hoc risk management matters to internal stakeholders as required, so that organisational objectives are achieved and policy breaches do not occur.
• Making recommendations on input to risk modelling and valuation processes, based on active monitoring and evaluation of market behaviour to ensure alignment with current market conditions.

Critical to your success will be the ability to perform these risk management responsibilities in a similar position elsewhere in an energy or commodity market or similar trading environment.

Other required skills and experience:

• Tertiary qualified in Finance or a Risk related discipline.
• Highly regarded for your robust quantitative analysis abilities and computer expertise.
• Well-developed communication skills, which have enabled you to effectively manage the expectations of a wide variety of stakeholders across a complex range of risk management concepts.
• Preferably have advanced financial and modelling skills, coupled with an understanding of derivative valuations, particularly relating to the various types of electricity derivatives.
• Proven ability to engage with others to support ongoing collaboration and co-operation across the established and developing teams across the organisation.
