The Axiom Group is a national market leader working in the construction industry. They are seeking a motivated individual to join their team as a Structural Design Engineer to provide technical expertise and engineering solutions to the building designs and products.

 

About the job

Your role is core to the integrity and safety of our designs and products. Your role is centred on the following:

  • Provide professional structural design advice, review and amendment of structural designs to ensure integrity and safety of our designs
  • Provide technical assistance with the development of standard generic building specifications and designs as required to ensure design consistency
  • Lead and perform a technical review of the building designs and specifications prepared by the inhouse drawing team and provide approval
  • Preparation and administration of documents for tendering, analysis of submissions, acceptance of offers for the procurement of goods and services to attain an optimal commercial outcome for the company
  • Design and document structural engineering solutions for building problems on site
  • Develop and apply an in-depth understanding of relevant Australian Standards and BCA/NCC
  • Provide excellent customer service and support for clients via telephone, email and face-to-face visits.
  • Maintain adequate documentation and record-keeping to meet statutory obligations for legal/insurance indemnity
  • Carry out all activities in line with Strategic Objectives and quarterly goals of the company.
  • Adopt and impart the unique USP, value propositions and brand strategies of the company
  • Attend all relevant internal meetings
  • Maintain accurate records of customer contacts
  • Liaise with Operations, Logistics, Production, Sales and Finance departments as required
  • Understand and maintain confidentiality relating to all business activities, especially relating to financial details and customer/supplier details

What we need from you

  • Engineering degree or higher
  • Registration as an Engineer with MIE Australia
  • In depth knowledge on Australian Standards 
  • You’re a registered Building Practitioner in all States and Territories
  • You have experience in solving complex problems
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Analytical problem solver and negotiator
  • Dedication to innovative and out of the box solutions and designs;
  • You have knowledge of glazing, wind and aluminum codes and strengths
  • AutoCAD experience is preferred
  • Team player and team builder
