The Western Government has released the new Perth Stadium Project Definition Plan (PDP), marking the end of the 12-month planning process and the start of the procurement phase.

The plan outlines the estimated $690 million cost for the stadium and $70.2 million for the surrounding sports precinct, while an additional $142.4 million has been allocated for escalation through to the project’s completion in 2018.

Tenders for pre-construction works are due to be advertised during the next month, with the Government expected to call for expressions of interest for the main construction contract by the end of the year.

Premier Colin Barnett said the stadium and sports precinct would be developed using a ‘Design-Build-Finance-Maintain’ model.  Under this model, the stadium would be owned by the Government, with the State directly funding the majority of the design and construction costs.
