The Queensland Government has put industry on notice after it announced the first round of contracts to begin repairs to the state’s road and transport infrastructure are being drawn up for tender later this month.

State Transport and Main Roads Minister, Scott Emerson, said that the start of road and bridge repair work would be ‘fast tracked to improve safety and allow communities to start getting back to normal’.

“The first package of repair work will focus on the Lockyer Valley, including repairs to Gatton-Esk Road Bridge over Lockyer Creek and roads around Laidley and Gatton,” Mr Emerson said.

“Local councils, engineering firms and construction companies should be on notice that we want this work underway as soon as possible.”

Information on the progress of work and the initial damage estimates on repair work carried out since the 2011 floods will be made available on the Transport and Main Roads website.
