The Federal Government has announced the tender to deliver the Pimlico to Teven Pacific Highway upgrade is now open, with interested companies now having until 29 May to submit their bids.

Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Anthony Albanese said the project will involve erecting a new bridge over Duck and Emigrant creeks and upgrading the intersection between the Pacific and Bruxner Highways.

“In addition, the successful contractor will also be required to duplicate a two kilometre section of the Pacific Highway as well as some 1.3 kilometre stretch of the Bruxner Highway,” said Mr Albanese.

NSW Roads and Ports Minister Duncan Gay said the upgrade of the Highway between Pimlico and Teven, just south of the Ballina Bypass, is being delivered in two stages.

“The first stage is already underway and involves soft soil work, which is being carried out by the Ballina Bypass Alliance along a 350 metre section south from the Pimlico Road intersection,” said Mr Gay.

“The tender process currently underway is for the second stage, with this work expected to kick off in early 2014.”
