Construction materials giant James Hardie has announced a $89 million expansion to its South East Queensland operations.

Deputy Premier, Jeffy Seeny, welcomed the announcement which will see the company make the substantial investment to increase manufacturing output at their site in Carole Park near Ipswich.

“We are committed to getting out there, promoting great opportunities in Queensland and James Hardie’s announcement today shows businesses are listening,” Mr Seeney said.

“The investment comes off the back of a successful business visit the Premier and I made to Sydney in August 2012.

“Investments of this size in the current climate don’t come lightly and our government worked with James Hardie executives for many months to secure this for Queensland.”

The expansion is set to increase manufacturing output by 40 per cent and increase the range of products going out the door.

“It will also incorporate substantial technology into the facility and greatly improve product quality,” Mr Seeney said.
